…and after seeing today’s Digestive Sessions videos, I have hope.

I’m pretty sure at this point that my problem is Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).  This amazing person, Dr. Allison Siebecker really knows about this stuff.  I’m excited to find someone to give me a hydrogen and methane breath test, which she says is the gold standard test for SIBO.

She explains why my problem seems to have “grown back” after my success with the Great Garlic Experiment. It’s detailed so I won’t get into it, but suffice it to say I think I need a practitioner to work with who is very familiar with this condition.

Hope is good.

  1. I left a comment about SIBO in July and it’s still true – daughter and I are doing good with it. I now have the Xifaxan on hand only for ’emergencies’ when we eat something that upsets our systems. Otherwise the SCD is working long term for us. I’m now doing a lower carb version of SCD to lose some of the weight. It’s slow but so much better to be healthy than where I was before. See my old comment in this thread: https://sanscarbs.wordpress.com/2014/07/06/a-new-phase/#comments

  2. Oh pretty sure you have some sort of bad bacteria lurking. Whats the plan? Antibiotics then probiotics?

  3. Kim – I remember your post well. Thanks for the reminder though. I’m probably going to be on the SCD long term. Glad to hear it’s working for you and your daughter.
